We have had a heavy fixture list since the start of the season, and as I said recently, squads win leagues, not players. I was interested in Colin previously, and when he became available again, I asked him to train with the squad. He impressed me greatly, and that convinced me to act.”

Swindon Town manager Andy King has said that he is in talks wtih Wigan Athletic to extend the loan deal of defender/midfielder Paul Mitchell for another month.

King told his club’s official website: “I will be looking to do another month on that one.

“It is a bit of a different situation as it has a 24 hour recall written in it. I have nearly agreed it with Wigan to have him for another month.

“I think he has done well in his time here.

“Right back is not his preferred position, he likes to play in the centre of midfield but I think he has done a more than adequate job at right back.

“I don’t want to discuss a more permanent deal, as I have got another months loan deal with him. I will start to think about when the time is right and at the moment it isn’t.”
