Wigan Athletic have signed Fulham midfielder Michael Brown for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old has penned a three-year deal at the JJB Stadium.

Wigan manager Chris Hutchings told his club’s official website: “Like all of our signings, we have done extensive research on the player and I feel he is someone who brings something new to the table. We have worked really hard behind the scenes to make this one happen because I believe he will make a big difference to the side and I am really happy Michael has agreed to join us.

“He has huge Premier League experience and is an all-action player who can play a number of roles in the middle of the park. He is a totally committed midfielder, who never gives anything less than 100% to the cause and strengthens competition in those central midfield areas even further.

“He has been a real fan’s favourite everywhere he has gone and I’m sure it will be no different here.”

He added: “Now the search goes on for more new blood, I still feel we need to add to the squad and we are optimistic that we can make further announcements, hopefully, sooner rather than later.”

Tottenham Hotspur have swooped to sign Hertha Berlin midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng for an undisclosed fee.

Boateng told his new club’s official website: “For me it is amazing to be in England. To be in London and playing for Spurs will be great for me. It has been my ambition to play in England, I am 20 now and am about to quickly realise my dream.

“I know that Spurs are a team who like to play offensive football. The club want to climb higher next season and I want to be a part of it.

“I watched the Premier League regularly in Germany, it is the most famous league in the world and I have always enjoyed it.”

Spurs manager Martin Jol added: “Kevin is a talented player who plays for the Under-21 side of his country. You could compare him with the likes of Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone in that he is an exciting player for now and the future.

“He is an attacking midfield player, very strong and that is one of his main assets.

“In Germany he is regarded as one of the biggest talents, we recognised this and went in for him.”

Barcelona star keen on Mourinho reunion

Barcelona midfielder Deco has revealed that he would like to work with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho again.

Deco told The Sun: “The idea of working with Jose again appeals to me.

“He was a huge influence on my career and he did so much for me. I’ve worked with him before and it would be good to work with him again.”

He continued: “There has been a lot of speculation about my future but at the moment that is all it is.

“Right now I’m a Barcelona player and I am just looking forward to the new season and trying to win the league.

“But football can change very quickly. If Barcelona want to sell me then all they have to do is say and I will go.

“It wouldn’t upset me if I had to go because I know there are other big clubs in the world I could play for.

“Every player wants to play for Barcelona and I’ve loved being here but if the manager decides I’m not part of his plans, then I will leave.”

He added: “The Premier League is definitely on a par with La Liga – and playing there absolutely appeals to me.

“Right now though I think England and Spain are just that little bit better.

“The English league is a possibility and it would definitely be somewhere I’d like to play.

“There’s no doubt that you can compare Manchester United and Chelsea to Barcelona. They are both huge clubs and playing for clubs like that would always be an attractive proposition.”
