Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce is considering whether to sign trialist Mohammed Kallon.

The Sierra Leone striker is a free agent after leaving Monaco last month.

Bruce said: “He’s training with us and getting into shape.

“If he can do us a turn, then we’re in pole position to sort something out.

“He’s been with us a few days now and we’re considering what’s best. But it’s fair to say he is something a little bit different to what we’ve got.”

Manchester City defender Micah Richards looks set to sign a new contract with the Premiership club.

Richards told BBC Sport: “I am very happy at City. Hopefully we will have something signed very soon.

“I am just waiting for my dad who is in Africa setting up a soccer school. We have got talks with City as soon as he gets back in the next two weeks.”

He added: “To me the most important thing now for my England chances with Euro 2008 coming up is to be playing week-in week-week out.

“If I am at City then I am hopefully going to be doing that, so it will be the best thing for me.

“I have been offered a new contract and, although I have not signed anything yet, it should be sorted out soon.”

Nigerian veteran joins Hull City

Hull City have completed the free transfer signing of former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha.

The 34-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Championship club.

Okocha told his new club’s official website: “I’m very pleased to be here.

“I see a lot of similarities between Hull and Bolton. In terms of the infrastructure, it is very similar to when I first joined Bolton and hopefully I will be as successful here as I was at Bolton, if not more so.

“The stadium is fantastic and I can’t wait to play in front of the fans. I have missed playing good football in good atmospheres, but this place is set for that.”

He added: “I’m looking to bring more experience to this football club. I want to help let the players know that nothing is impossible and that we can achieve a lot of success.

“I’m thinking beyond the next 12 months, but I’m not the youngest anymore. But I hope to do very well this season to be able to continue at this football club.

“I’ve been very impressed with what I’ve seen in the last two games. We look like a very solid team and it made me realise that I have made the right decision.”
