Plymouth youngster loaned to Port Vale

Plymouth Argyle midfielder Damien McCrory has been loaned to Port Vale for a month.

The Irish Under-18 international told the Valiants’ official website: “I should have been going back home to Ireland on Friday as we have a free weekend, but now I’m going to have to cancel the flights.

“It is a great opportunity for me to play first team football and I hope I can help the team do well while I am here.

“I have been playing at left back but I also play on the left wing and whichever position I play in I like going forward.

“I played for the first team in pre-season and have played in the reserves since and have done well, so this is an opportunity to step up and I am really looking forward to it.”

Bournemouth loan in Rushden & Diamonds striker

Bournemouth have taken Rushden & Diamonds striker Michael Rankine on a month’s loan.

Cherries manager Jimmy Quinn told his club’s official website: “A number of league clubs had enquired about him, they’ve got a lot of good strikers at Rushden so it’s good we’ve signed him.”

“I felt we needed a bit of extra fire power up front and something different in attack, Michael is someone who gives us that. Hopefully he’ll settle and see how it goes from their.”

Luton sign ex-Burnley winger

Luton Town have signed former Burnley winger Garreth O’Connor on a three-month contract.

The 29-year old was a free agent after being released in the summer.

Luton manager Mick Harford told his club’s official website: “It’s no secret I’ve been looking for wide players and to add some experience to the squad after our recent injuries. We want to improve the service to the front players so that we can turn possession into goals.

“Garreth’s got a great chance to make a name for himself – he knows what we expect of him so he now has his chance to deliver.”

Preston take Blackburn defender on loan

Preston North End have loaned in Blackburn Rovers defender Eddie Nolan on a three-month loan.

The 20-year-old Irishman told Preston’s official website: “I’m excited about it; hoping to get some games under my belt and develop as a player. This is a great chance for me. I’m grateful for the opportunity and hope I can prove myself.”

He added: “I’m a ball playing centre half and am good on the ball. I like to pass it. The manager [Alan Irvine] has told me that it is up to me to do well and the ball is in my court now.”
