Stoke sign Uruguayan international
Uruguayan Diego Arismendi wants to emulate fellow countryman Gus Poyet’s success in England following his £2.64m move to Stoke City from Nacional.
Midifielder Poyet enjoyed a successful time during his playing days in England with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Arismendi told his new club’s official website: “It’s a dream come true to come and play in the Premier League. In my opinion it is the best League in the world and having watched it on television for many years, I had long held the ambition of coming to play here one day.
“I was impressed with the welcome that I received from the Club and I also like the ambitious plans that the manager has for the Club in the long term.”
He added: “Gus Poyet was always a player I admired as a kid because of the success he enjoyed in English football and I would love to be able to emulate him.”
