West Bromwich Albion have loaned in Birmingham City ‘keeper Ben Foster for the coming season.

Moving in the opposite direction is fellow ‘keeper Boaz Myhill, who joins City on a year’s loan.

West Brom manager Roy Hodgson told his club’s official website: “We are very, very happy that the deal to bring Ben from Birmingham has gone through.

“He was always the goalkeeper that we targeted as our No.1 choice for the season.

“We are hoping he will be as successful here as he has been with his previous clubs.

“We are confident Ben is the goalkeeper we need to help us enjoy a successful season in the Barclays Premier League.”

Burnley duo Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears have completed their moves to Bolton Wanderers.

Both players, who have signed three-year contracts, have cost Bolton a fee in the region of £3m.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle told his club’s official website: “Both Chris and Tyrone are top players, and have shown that they have the ability to compete successfully at the highest level.

“I have worked with them both before and know what they will bring to the club in terms of character and commitment and along with [recent signing] Nigel Reo Coker, we have added real quality to the squad.”

Midfielder Eagles said: “I know that it is a good squad so the challenge for me will be to work hard and then look to contribute. I am an attacking midfielder and I will certainly be looking to chip in with some goals.

Right-back Mears added: “I’m obviously very happy the deal has been concluded. I’m really looking forward to working with a manager. I’ve worked with before and playing in the Premier League. From the outside looking in, this has seemed like it is a club going in the right direction. It wasn’t a difficult decision at all. I know exactly what the manager expects from his players and I’m more than ready for it.”

Manchester City sign Sergio Aguero

Manchester City have smashed their club transfer record with the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero.

Reports say that City have paid the Spanish club a fee of initially £35m, that could rise to £38m.

City’s previous record was set when they paid Real Madrid £32.5m for Robinho in September 2008.

The 23-year-old Argentine international, who has signed a five-year contract with City, told the Premier League’s official website: “I don’t think I’ll have too many problems settling into the team.

“I’ll obviously be doing my best to do what the manager asks and try to work the way he wants me to, and of course he will know how he wants to use me.

“Once I’m out on the field I will get to know my way round, but I can’t say that for sure because I have not even made my debut yet. But I’m sure everything will be fine. I’m going to be relaxed about it.”

He added: “My style has always been to fight to the death for every ball, and give 100 per cent in every game.

“Be concentrated to the maximum in everything I do; movement, running off the ball, winning the ball back and scoring goals. I’m not a player who can do everything, but I still have plenty to offer.”
